Junior College
Our junior college programs place a strong emphasis on helping students in developing a global mindset.
Our curriculum encourages higher-order thinking, establishes a strong foundation, and improves their answering skills.
MIND YOUR LANGUAGE | H1 GENERAL PAPER
Junior College 1 - Junior College 2
This course is structured to teach students how to analyse methodologically and understand throughly policies and issues. During the course students are also encouraged to discuss objectively and debate logically on various subjects, rather than rote learning. One of the strengths of the programme is to train students to listen intensely and think critically on every single idea and through extensive reading, students are also taught the various argument techniques which allow them to write vividly in a simple and concise manner. Each content area has its own use of grammar and syntax. Our students are taught to learn to write effectively in that area. At the end of the course, they will be able to effectively manipulate syntax for optimum meaning in their writing.
MIND ON MATHEMATICS | H1/H2 MATHEMATICS
Junior College 1 - Junior College 2
Mind On Mathematics (MOM) adopts a different approach when learning is concern. We have no doubt that learning at the first instance is a mediated activity between the teacher and student but typically, at advance level, there are evidence that students prefer to learn alone when they have already mastered the relevant skills. Hence we give our teachers a secondary role, a supportive role that can support the individual process of reflection and abstraction on the subject matter.
MIND ON ECONOMICS | H1/H2 ECONOMICS
Junior College 1 - Junior College 2
The conceptual development of Economics is best practiced through intellectual activity rather than by the absorption of information. Most economic classes focus their attention on students copying and absorbing ideas from the external world. What makes Mind On Economics (MOE) programme unique is our focus on students’ construction off economic concepts through active, observation and real life examples. This is the essence of our programme in which students’ construction, understanding and relating to practical situation is central.
MIND ON PHYSICS | H1/H2 PHYSICS
Junior College 1 - Junior College 2
The learning of physics involves interaction with a more expert other person. Our teachers who are skilled not only in the subject matter but also in guiding our students through their learning process. Students studying higher level need a mentor with insights into their learning behaviour and the ability to bring across complex concepts in a short and succinct manner. Students’ participation become more explicit and the content of discussion becomes available for reflection and review. It enriches their understanding and learning experience.
MIND ON CHEMISTRY | H1/H2 CHEMISTRY
Junior College 1 - Junior College 2
We recognise the importance of context in the learning of H2 chemistry. Context literally embraces the processes of acquisition of knowledge and practice. Mind On Chemistry programme takes it a step further, we encourage students to develop the knowledge through their own analysis and reflection. Our teachers provide a guide to ensure that this knowledge acquired is useful (both quantitatively and qualitatively) in their studies. Mind On Chemistry requires students to do far more than being a student, they must actually become a practitioner so that the knowledge acquired can be applied in a context of practice.
